A Study on the Effect of I.M. Methotrexate in the Treatment of Unruptured Ectopic Pregnancy

Abstract
The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of intramuscular Methotrexate injection on the treatment of ectopic pregnancy.
The method of the study was made by the retrospective clinical observations on the 52 cases of unruptured ectopic pregnancies in Gil Medical Center Hospital, department of OB & GYN.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The common prevalent age group of Ectopic Pregnancy were 25~29 year group (32.7%)and 30~34 year group(30.8%).
2. The obstetrical histories of gravidity, parity and induced abortions were suggested as some of the contributing factors of etiology of ectopic pregnancy.
3. The mean ectopic gestational week was 7.1 weeks.
4. The resolution of patients was obtained in 47 cases(90.4%) of 52 unruptured tubal pregnancies with intramuscular methotrexate treatment.
5. The mean resolution duration was 21 days.
6. The side effects of methotrexate were observed in 15 cases(28.9%) of 52 unruptured tubal pregnancies, but the severity of symptoms were mild.
Consequently, IM, MTX. In combination with Citrovorum Factor was found to have a good (90.4%) effect in the treatment of unruptured ectopic pregnancy. Therefore, it is possible to alternate surgery. But tight selection criteria of the patients
and
preparation available emergency care, are requires to undergo MTX treatment.
